"Close Range, Wyoming Stories", was a triumphant return to the short story format for novelist, Annie Proulx. The stories were originally published in magazines but were compiled by the publisher, Scribner and Proulx for this special edition. The book hearkens back to the Scribner's tradition of illustrated fiction, incorporating Proulx's spare, piercing style with artist William Matthew's watercolor Western Realism. Includes the heartbreaking short story, "Brokeback Mountain", made into an equally heartbreaking movie directed by Ang Lee.
