Both an autobiography of an author, Isak Dinesen, and a place, Kenya, in the final decades of English Colonialism, "Out of Africa" has become a giant of modern literature, not because it is epic, but because it is as quiet as late in the afternoon in the Kenyan foothills. Lushly written, with a lovely tone of warm memory, Dinesen's novel was chosen as #23 in Modern Library's very large classic reprint catalog. The design for the dust jacket is reminiscent of Kenyan fabric motifs.
