Child of the Revolution
Marc Bolan's first and only book of poetry, "Warlock of Love", was first printed in 1969 and was a surprise bestseller. Bolan, who always identified himself as a poet first and foremost, was only one year away from renaming his folk band, "Tyrannosaurus Rex", to the now uber-legendary, glam rock legend that is "T.Rex". After it's initial publication, "Warlock of Love" remained notoriously out of print until it was lovingly reprinted in 1992 by the Tyrannosaurus Rex Appreciation Society in a limited edition of 1,000 copies. Bolan's poetry, which should suprise no one, strikes the same romantic, mythic themes as is found in his music. Marc Bolan is, perhaps, finally getting getting much of the credit he deserves for changing music and culture. In 2019, the book celebrated its 50th anniversary and in the year 2020, T.Rex will be initiated into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. This 1992 reprint is as scarce as it is hypnotic.
